Mindfulness is being aware of the present state or your internal and external environment with intentional focus. Mindfulness meditation is focusing on sensing and feeling without judgement.

The reason why we need it is to redirect our attention away from planning, problem-solving and negative thinking. It helps give our system a chance to relax and destress. Life these days is super fast paced, busy and stressful. Planning what to buy at the grocery store, diet plans, work schedules, schooling etc. There is hardly any time out of the 24 hours used for rest and destressing. In combination to this super stressful western life of 9 to 5 jobs we now deal with endometriosis or just another alternate chronic condition that stalls our growth in certain areas of life, invades the mind and occupies our limited time.

Endometriosis can cause severe pain and illness in different forms and symptoms. It`s even harder to be mindful and keep a positive focus overall. Everyday you are bombarded with thoughts like;' will I even lead a normal life?'; ' am I happy with my current career and if I get my dream job will I be able to manage it with my condition?'; 'will they fire me with all the sick leave I have taken?'; 'if I cannot take care of myself who will help me?'; 'I don`t want to be a burden to my friends and family!'

So people with chronic condition have a longer list of concerns than most do and we need mindfulness probably more than most. Even more reason to practice mindfulness is that meditation lessens pain and as we know endo pain can be tricky so the extra pain management technique like this can be useful.

So give it a try! Be mindful and meditate. Below is a guided meditation that I enjoy.

Wishing you a flare-free day!
