Numb the pain or worsen it?

So you are young, free and fearless. You are oblivious to the pain in your future. You are ready for the night out with the girls. The music starts, the drinks are served along with the gossip and peer pressure. The volume goes up in the room. Do you stop to think if you should be having that glass of alcohol? After the first ...you have a second. You think to yourself I need to enjoy this moment -"Y.O.L.O bitches!". We deal with the consequences later.

Does alcohol affect endometriosis?

Endometriosis is caused by a hormonal imbalance and said to be a estrogen dominant condition. Anything we consume can positively or negatively affect that balance. Alcohol is a hormone disruptor that causes inflammation so excessive drinking can make your endometriosis symptoms worse .

There are rumors that alcohol can even be a cause or trigger for endometriosis to start up in your body. Whether this is true or not I personally rather avoid the painful endo bloating that accompanies the excessive drinking.

So should endo warriors not have alcohol?

The choice to drink is yours entirely, but don't abuse it or else you will be in a world of pain. Alcohol does not just disrupt your physical state, it also affects your mental health. This can add to the endo burden you already deal with daily.

A glass of your choice once in a while is usually OK. I choose to drink red wine for the health benefits. So a healthy choice of alcohol , once in a while with fewer negative consequences.

Should underage endo warriors avoid alcohol?

We all like to live on the edge sometimes not knowing how far is too far off the edge. My advice would be not to take the chance when you are so young and below the legal age limit for drinking. A growing body with hormonal changes should be treated with respect and care. Your body is learning just as you are. You only get one in a lifetime, so remember to take good care of it.

Endo teens, please take care of yourself & have an endo flare free day!
